Eat, pray, love – by Elizabeth Gilbert

This was the book we discussed at our inaugural book club meeting.

The consensus was that it was an enjoyable read, and an interesting look at cultures in Italy, India and Bali. One member of the group had been to Bali recently, and had visited some of the places in the book!

Comments on the book included ‘thought-provoking’, ‘relatable’, ‘funny’, ‘captivating’, and we agreed that the pace was on the whole fast-paced but a little slow in places (particularly the ‘Pray’ section set in India, which was very self-reflective).

Overall a positive response to the book, and one member of the group said that they enjoyed the book so much that they have already downloaded it’s sequel (Committed) and is looking forward to reading it!

Next month’s book is According to Yes, by Dawn French.
